Our Story

Founded by Lauren Stein in 2010, Her Pony first started turning heads in the hustle of Melbourne’s Camberwell Market. Born from an inherited love of sewing and an addiction to hunting vintage treasures, Her Pony’s first designs gave new life to secondhand finds with Lauren’s creative eye. Nineties floral dresses became signature two-piece sets, bold ‘60s retro prints were paired with ‘70s stripes, and unexpected textiles like crochet blankets and vintage sunflower sheets were stitched into brand new delights. Each upcycled garment altered by hand and with heart to share a certain spark.

Years later and now based in sunny Byron Bay, Her Pony’s current set-up is a step away from its humble stall beginnings, but some things never change. Still handmade to uphold a devotion to quality, instinctively individual for the fun and the fierce, and woven with a nostalgic thread laced through its true vintage and vintage-inspired lines that will never get old, Her Pony has real heart. Each creation is a piece of it just for you.

A big action can be as simple as a good choice. We make ours count for the planet and its people.

Our Commitment

Carefully considered & made to last.

Her Pony is the creation of two friends committed to building a community of women that feel comfortable in their skin, confident in their creativity, and valued for their individual choices. The important part? Ensuring it’s not at the expense of others or our planet.

Since the start of our story, we’ve worked continuously on improving our practices as the world of fashion uncovers more and more ethical solutions, while keeping the most sustainable action at the heart of our business: vintage clothing.

Our Production

Socially responsible in every stitch

It’s important to us at Her Pony to know how our pieces are made and the people making them, as it should be.

Our production is based in Bali, Indonesia, where we have strong ties with the artisans and local communities. The factory conditions are continuously monitored and held to the highest standard, as is the happiness and wellbeing of the team. Fair skill-based pay, financial support in times of need, and money for daily lunches, special ceremonies and events are all standard practices, and we also offer micro loans to the staff to pursue their own side projects.

Our pieces are handmade in small runs, avoiding mass production at all costs to ensure that each item passes through caring hands. Her Pony is made to last with complete love and care – for the clothing, the customer and the craftspeople. You can feel good about that.

Our Packaging

Zero plastic policy

That’s right, not a single piece of plastic comes on the Her Pony journey from the factory to our warehouse to your closet – and we’re incredibly proud of that fact. All garments are protected in biodegradable bags, which should be disposed of in your green waste (but please remember to remove the barcode sticker and put that into landfill). Each order is shipped with a recycled paper love note from our team to you.

Finally, our eco postage satchels from HEAPS GOOD are made from a combination of cornstarch, PBAT (a bio-based polymer which is compostable) and PLA which is made up of plant materials, and these should also be disposed of with your green waste once the shipping stickers are removed. HEAPS GOOD also plant a tree for every order, which only makes us love them more. Every little thing adds up!
